As we look forward to the future of our service under the energetic leadership of Pastor McLean, we pause to look back and to show appreciation for our rich and wonderful leadership of the past.

“The Genesis”

The Reverend Anthony Welborn, Founder of First Baptist, knew a great deal about sacrifice. His sacrifice was not tucked away in an unseen corner; it was deeply imbedded in determination. He walked many miles in snow, sleet, and rain to preach the Gospel, which was of the utmost importance to Reverend Welborn. With the sound of slavery in the not too distant past and the oppression still in the present, First Baptist Church was organized in 1887.
